Hey all, Floaty here!I'm none other than yet another Blender artist who does renders, especially focusing around Splatoon and very occasionally anything else.
Whether you come from a Discord server you saw me in, you've spotted me or my artwork, or if you'd like to commission me (as long as I'm available), this is the right place to start from!

Contact info

  • The home page of this Carrd shows all the main social media platforms and sites where you can find me, but I'll be primarily checking X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Threads, and Discord. I'm not guaranteed to respond, but for any commission requests or other inquiries, you can safely contact me in whichever suits you best as DMs are (usually) open.
Keep in mind that I am merely just a stranger living by, so please do not get too safe in my DMs unless I know we're close.

  • Cloudland is a Discord server that's public and open to everyone! You may interact with me in the text chats or DMs, but please do not reach out to me directly unless it's urgent or for commissions.

  • When I tell you to stop talking to me for any reason at all or if I potentially don't respond, please stop.

  • Should I feel like the need to, I may block without warning if the above and/or the below aren't respected and potentially ban from Cloudland if possible.

General FAQs

This section is a self-explanatory catch-all. It's where I pile up any questions I've been asked often (hence Frequently Asked Questions) and answer them, in addition to anything I add myself that I feel like I would be asked.

  • "Hi"
That... isn't a question, you know? Jokes aside though, I can't accept this kind of DMs in my requests. If you want to say anything, please do it in a single message block in a clear matter. I'm not immediately open for a chatter, and if you act like this, I will not respond to you.

  • "I DMd you, but I haven't received a response?"
Typically I look through DMs between usually Discord and X (formerly Twitter), potentially responding if/when I can. However, I can't always guarantee to respond to anything that comes across regardless.
It could be that I didn't see the message, I didn't have time to respond firsthand (e.g. I could've been asleep), or simply because I didn't feel like it for any reason.
If I don't respond, please stop unless it's actually important/urgent.

  • "Can we play [game] together?"
Depends. Chances are that you may spot me playing something and/or play with me, or viceversa. However, unless we are close enough to each other, I can't really accept direct invites.

  • "My question isn't listed here..."
That's okay! If you have anything to raise upon me that isn't here, feel free to DM me.
I will not guarantee an immediate answer if I get to answer at all (especially if you're the kind to just say "hi" as mentioned above), but I see you!

Art-related FAQs

  • "What do you use for your artwork?"
Until late 2021, I used to make renders with the Source Filmmaker.
Going forwards, all my artwork is done in Blender, often featuring some edits and effects made in Affinity Designer, Paint.net, or both. If you come from my main X (formerly Twitter) page or Mastodon and you'd like to see more, most of the artwork that I've made can be glanced upon in DeviantArt (from 2019 to mid-2022) and Instagram (2021 onwards)!

  • "Where do you get [model(s)] from?"
Multiple sources. Some of them come from The Models Resource, some of them come from the Steam Workshop (SFM usually), most others are ripped from game files directly, and maybe, just maybe, I may make my own props and objects too.
Starting on the 13th October 2022, I've also been using rigs by TeenageApple as bases for my Splatoon characters.
Except for the model rips, everything is publicly available for download if not self-made.

  • "Can I request a commission/do you take requests?"
You're in the right place! You might've or might've not seen it, but there's a Commissions button in the "Site navigation" section, just scroll to the top page. On top of that, however, please check for my commission status in my Trello page!
Additionally, I don't take requests for free renders or models. If I ever made and will ever make any renders for anyone else, it'll be solely either because I wanted to for any reason or because I was commissioned.

  • "Can you help me out with Blender, [x], and/or [y]?"
Just as a good bunch of you, even I am in a steep learning process within Blender that I'm building up through bit by bit, despite having gone full time as far back as late 2021.
It is just as time-consuming for me to visualise, reimagine, and render what initially would be a mere thought, as it would be to pass any knowledge down to different people, especially if it's big groups of them that I don't know of. Despite having some knowledge myself, I am by no means a teacher (not a good one at that, to say the least) and even I am still learning things as I try them, so I cannot really guarantee anything. Besides, it does kind of eat me up and my free time.
In brief, I am unable to offer any help, plus most of the common/base knowledge is up online to read/hear/watch upon already. Please use what you can best find, keep exploring the program for yourself preferably, and best of wishes and luck. <3

  • "Hey, [x] took your artwork!"
Thank you for your concern. I don't condone art theft upon myself or anyone else, but I do not want to hear about it unless it's a repeated/widespread case.
I have signed up to as many of the more common social media platforms as possible, whether to kind of try being active or to prevent the spread of fakes by taking a specific username. It may not erase the fakes entirely, but it will at least combat against them as you'll know it's me if you saw the links in the main page of this Carrd.
For example and for the record, I do also have a TikTok account, but it's only there as an excuse to say that I'm there. In any case though, if you see a profile that isn't listed in the main page, please let me know and I'll answer.
...oh, and for the love of the Splatlands, while you're here: please don't claim anything as it's yours, don't edit anything out, and don't "mint" it.

Character FAQs

Disclaimer: It is ok to use any of my characters for any type of artwork as long as I'm credited. That's it.
However, if you do need to ask for permission for anything more specific, you may feel free to DM me any time telling me what it is that you want to do. For the more common use cases, keep reading.

  • "Can I commission you with your characters?"
Yes, you may include any character of mine in your order (e.g.: there's anything you'd like to see between my/your characters).
Standard commission prices and extra character upcharges may apply.
Please inform me of your idea and how you'd like to see my character(s) in detail.
The order may be cancelled and refunded if I don't approve of the idea for any reason.

  • "Can I commission another artist with your characters?"
Yes, you may commission another artist to feature any of my characters as long as I'm informed of what your intention/idea is, who the artist you're commissioning is, and you may proceed if I wholly approve it, but it may be out of surprise too if I trust you.

  • "Can I use your characters in my own artwork?"
You may be allowed to make any form of fanart or inclusion of my characters as you wish as long as I'm credited for the character(s). You will not need to ask for permission for a vast majority of cases, but if you do have any super specific ideas that you're unsure of, you can either ask me or, to be safe, not go with it and try something else.
Depending on what kind of idea you're on about, whether it's anything deeper/detailed or if for any reason it's to be considered as risquΓ©, DM me. No exceptions!

  • "I'm a 3D artist, where can I get your files?"
    Short answer, you don't.
Long answer, I am not willing to give up my Blender files so easily unless I know I can trust you with them and I will not be giving out any more SFM files going forwards.

  • "I'm a 2D artist, where can I get reference images?"
You may have a look at my Toyhou.se and select the character(s) of your choice. Do note that if you opt for this, there may be chances that you'll encounter slightly outdated designs of certain characters. In most cases, I won't update my characters too often, but you may always ask me for references directly if you want to be sure.

  • "Where can I see/read more on your characters?"
I've got my Toyhou.se page for just that! In case you don't know, Toyhou.se is where artists can write up about their characters, make descriptions and bio pages for them, and show artwork/images of them for a healthy showcase.
My Toyhou.se page is relatively incomplete and some bios and pages may appear empty, but no worries as most my characters are already there, at least in appearance if not written up too.

SplatBlender Circle

  • SplatBlender Circle ("the Circle") is a Blender-centric server that allows for close discussion and assistance between artists and/or dataminers alike looking into doing Blender work themed around Splatoon, as well as a good lookup for resources. Before proceeding, please have a careful read.

  • The Circle assumes that either you're a Blender user who's moderately experienced or if you're just starting off/about to. No exceptions.

  • For the sake of safeguarding, there's a verification procedure to follow. Read the rules, then verify yourself following the in-server instructions.

  • Do not unsolicitedly try to add or DM me and/or any of the Circle Founders or moderators on Discord. Please DM us strictly for any concerns or inquiries in regards to the Circle.

  • If you've been into any drama/suspicious activities as of recent and/or if you're not 13 or older, you're getting kicked or banned.

  • And that's all of the introductory part. The rest of the info, as well as the General Rules, are within the Circle. As you made it down here, you can click the join button below!

TL;DR: The SplatBlender Circle server assumes that you're a Blender user, whether new or seasoned, as it's strictly a Blender-centric server with no interest in casual/general discussions.
If you're looking for a general talk server instead and you're looking for some form of interaction with myself and more so a broader community, please consider giving Cloudland a look.

Terms & Conditions

  • Payment is upfront to my Ko-fi commissions page! Pick the commission option that pertains the most to you, upload your reference images, describe the kind of pose/scene you'd like to see, and then submit the order.
Ko-fi accepts PayPal payments and credit/debit card payments processed via Stripe.

  • For contact, Ko-fi's DMs system is preferable as a first choice, however I may be open to your closest social media platform, email, or if we happen to have mutual servers on Discord (whether it's Cloudland or somewhere else I'm active in), you may DM me there too. If you'd like email instead, please let me know in the order details!

  • You can choose whether the render is public, private, or perhaps a surprise for someone else!
Public renders may be published on Twitter first and/or other social media platforms afterwards, and WIPs will be shown both to you and anyone subscribed to a Ko-fi membership. Optionally, you may request to keep your identity anonymous when the render is published.
Private renders will not be published to any social media feed and Ko-fi members will neither see WIPs (which only you will see) nor the finished render(s). A watermarked version of the render(s) will still be provided alongside the clean version.
You may request to surprise someone with a render of their character. WIPs will be shown both to you and Ko-fi members alongside the finished artwork early*, but it'll be entirely up to you as to when to show the finished render.
(* - Ko-fi members will not see WIPs or the render early if the person you're looking to surprise is among them.)

  • The prices and addons in the prices page are shown in full, discounts may apply if you're a Ko-fi member in the Brushy Mint tier. Effective discounted price will vary based on your commission options and addons.

  • In case you cannot make it in time or in case you missed my current batch for any reason, you may feel free to ask me to have you added to the ping list for the next soonest batch or assign yourself the Commission Pings role in Cloudland. Being part of the ping list or assigning yourself to the Commissions Pings role will notify you when the next batch will start.

  • No orders will be allowed for NSFW, heavy gore, and/or any related suggestive themes.

  • I accept reference sheets, and/or one or multiple standalone images of your character(s). You may add any extra notes if needed.
If you have any pose ideas and/or references, feel free to drop them to me. If not, or if you would like me to, I could come up with something myself.

  • I am allowed to decline an order and payment for any reason.

  • Periodic work-in-progress images ("WIPs") will be sent so I can check with you for character details being right, wrong, or just for overall feedback for poses, scene, etc. In case there's anything to correct or point out, please let me know!

  • Normally I'll start and finish a render within a month from ordering (usually 2-4 weeks), sometimes less depending on queue and/or other sources of time constraints (irl events, breaks, complexity of the orders, etc.), but you may come ask me about commission status or you can check my Trello page for a simplified view of my overall progress for each render and order.
I will not guarantee that I'll finish a render within a set deadline. Please do not request deadlines.

  • No further corrections will be accepted once you receive the final piece unless I deem it strictly necessary or if I made/notice a mistake anywhere.

  • You are allowed to use the final result as your profile picture, banner, wallpaper, etc. (β€œpersonal use”) as long as you credit me. Do not resell, use the artwork for any commercial uses, and/or anything outside of personal use.

  • You will be sent a clean image for personal use. However, please send a link to the public post/tweet if you want to share it.
If you want to repost the artwork yourself publicly, please ask permission to use the watermarked version first.

  • No .blend files will be provided.

  • By commissioning me, you agree to all of the points above.

Ko-fi

Ko-fi is my main platform for anyone to send any form of financial support, whether it's a one-tip, a membership, or commissions!
I've been doing renders regularly for over five years, it's just as fun for me to make ones I like to make as it is to share them with friends and especially out there publicly in my social media feeds. It is not needed to make any kind of contribution towards me, but it would always be dearly appreciated whether it's with the intent to improve my renders or to help me towards a goal of any kind.
If you are interested in doing anything, the panel below allows you to send a tip (from 3€, increments or set amount). Alternatively, you can also sign up for a membership, so not only you get a way to support me more regularly, but you also get rewards and extra treats in return, ranging from treats in Cloudland, to extra WIPs of just about anything I do, to alt renders! In all cases, Ko-fi accepts payments via PayPal and credit card.I also use Ko-fi to take commissions whenever I have slots open! For more info on commissions, see here.
